Netflix is set to add a new action film to its roster, which fans are already referring to as the ‘new John Wick‘.

The film, Demon City, has been eagerly added to watchlists even before its confirmed release date of February 27.

A trailer released by Netflix has sparked excitement and drawn comparisons to the popular Keanu Reeves – led action franchise.

Demon City is a live-action adaptation of the comic book series Oni Goroshi, which ran from 2020 to November 2024.

Set in the provincial city of Shinjo, it tells the story of a hitman seeking revenge after the tragic loss of his wife and daughter. The comic, known for its graphic and brutal depiction of violence, captivated readers and is now being brought to life on screen, reports Surrey Live.

Toma Ikuta stars as Shuhei Sakata, a legendary hitman on a mission for revenge. After deciding to change his ways for his family, he is framed by the mysterious organisation Kimen-gumi, who murder his wife and daughter, tarnishing his reputation.

After surviving a gunshot wound to the head and falling into a coma, he is targeted again by the Kimen-gumi 12 years later, igniting his dormant killer instinct and setting him on a path of vengeance.
