A pedestrian who passed away after being hit by a car has been named by Police Scotland – as the investigation into his death last month continues.

David Whitehurst was killed following an incident involving an unspecified vehicle at an industrial estate in Burntisland, on Monday, January 27, 2025.

The alarm was raised after the 61-year-old, who was from Edinburgh, was injured at Burntisland Industrial Units, in the Fife town’s Forth Place.

Emergency services raced to the scene but he was pronounced dead and an investigation into his death is ongoing. Police Scotland released details of his death this morning.

The force said: “A 61-year-old man who died after being struck by a vehicle in the Forth Place area of Burntisland has been named as David Whitehurst from Edinburgh.

“Around 9.20pm on Monday, 27 January, 2025, we received a report of a concern for a person at Burntisland Industrial Units. Emergency services attended, and David Whitehurst was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His family say he was very much loved by family and everyone that knew him. Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
