The meeting’s purpose was not to approve or deny Starbucks’ right to move in, however several residents near Harper Road spoke out at the meeting, asking questions about how it would affect traffic as well as local businesses.

A local business owner also stepped forward to share his concerns, and said that Harper Road is unable to handle the inevitable influx of traffic.
The Mayor of Beckley was also present to convene with citizens, and said there may be alternative solutions to help alleviate the traffic problem once Starbucks has settled in.
