Nets forward Cam Johnson is off the injury report. He missed six straight games because of a right ankle sprain but appears set to return to the lineup on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards at Barclays Center.
Brooklyn went 3-3 in its recent six-game stretch without Johnson, including back-to-back wins over the Houston Rockets on Saturday and Tuesday. The soon-to-be 29-year-old remains the topic of trade discussions around the league, but recent reports suggest he’ll likely remain with the Nets past Thursday’s deadline.
General manager Sean Marks has maintained a high asking price of two first-round picks or equivalent value for the sharpshooting wing. So far, no team has made a strong enough offer.
Johnson, who has two years left on his current deal worth $21.5 million annually, has averaged career-best 19.4 points across 35 games this season while shooting 49.1% from the field and 41.9% from deep.
Like Johnson, Ben Simmons was also not listed on Wednesday’s injury report and appears set to return from a one-game absence.
Day’Ron Sharpe, who contributed10 points and six rebounds off the bench on Tuesday, is listed as questionable entering Wednesday’s game because of left hamstring tightness. He left last week’s win over the Charlotte Hornets early because of the same issue, but did play on Saturday and Tuesday against Houston. The 23-year-old has been linked to the Lakers and Clippers in recent trade rumors.
Trendon Watford will miss Wednesday’s game because of left hamstring injury management. He had four points, three rebounds and two assists off the bench in Tuesday’s defeat of Houston.
The Nets said Cam Thomas will return to the lineup after the All-Star break.
