SEATTLE (WANF/Gray News) – A Japan Airlines plane clipped the tail of a Delta Air Lines flight at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Wednesday.
According to airport officials, the Japan Airlines aircraft was taxiing on the tarmac at about 10:15 a.m. when it appeared to have struck a parked Delta Air Lines aircraft.
Delta representatives said the Boeing 737 was scheduled to depart Seattle for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Seattle airport officials said they were working with both airlines and that passengers were brought back to the terminal.
According to Delta, the 142 passengers on the 737 were eventually put on another flight.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the two planes were in an area that was not under air traffic control when the right wing of the Japan Airlines flight struck the tail of the Delta plane.
According to the FAA, it temporarily paused some flights to the airport because of the incident.
Airport officials said the incident had minimal impact on operations as it occurred on a taxi lane.
Delta said its team is working to investigate what caused the collision.
No injuries were reported.
