Kilmarnock defender Stuart Findlay is targeting a return to action next month.

The 29-year-old defender sustained an ankle injury during a 3-2 loss away to Dundee at the start of November and is hopeful he won’t have to wait too much longer before getting back on the pitch.

Speaking to Killie TV, Findlay – who is on loan from English Championship side Oxford United – said: “It’s been a frustrating time. Obviously, it’s been a little while now since I was able to get out and play, but all the rehab’s going in the right direction.

“It’ll still be a wee while yet, but hopefully sooner rather than later, I can get out and help the guys.

“The first couple of weeks, I was a little bit immobile before the operation, then after the operation, it takes a little bit to recover.”

He added: “The last four or five weeks, I’ve been able to get myself into the gym, start to do the rehab that I need to get through.

“And hopefully, it won’t be long before I can get myself back on the pitch, back to a little bit of running. And hopefully, it’s only one direction from there before I’m back on the park for real.

“The rough estimate was always going to be sometime in March. I know there’s a few games in the March timeline, I’m hoping that I can be available for one of them. That’s everything going well, and that’s what the plan is.

“Barring any setbacks, hopefully that’s the sort of realistic target for when I can be back with the guys.”
