Liam Payne‘s girlfriend has revealed she was sent a heart-breaking message three days after his death.

Liam Payne died at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Kate Cassidy, his girlfriend, has revealed the moment she realised Liam was not coming back, speaking out for the first time since his death.

Kate had paid a man to fix their lights while sorting Halloween decorations at home. The man text her three days after Liam’s death asking if he had liked the Halloween surprise.

It hit Kate in that moment that Liam was not coming back. She burst into tears as she admitted she never thought something would happen to Liam and revealed they lived their “own separate lives”, reported The Mirror.

Kate spoke about Liam in the present tense in the interview before correcting herself. She also heartbreakingly admitted to the Sun that she still calls Liam’s phone to hear his voicemail.

Kate would fall asleep listening to his songs in the time just after his death, but now she can no longer play any of them. She said: “Maybe one day, but not right now.”

She paid tribute to her late boyfriend in a heartfelt social media post, revealing they had been hoping to take their relationship to the next level.

She said: “A few weeks ago we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it.

“It said: ‘Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444. Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way that we planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel. I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me wherever I go. Forever yours, Katelyn, 444.”

Kate explained “444” is the number of angels. On her Instagram she said: “More often, you will see the number 444 when you are feeling down. In simple sense, the number 444 reminds you that your angels are always there to support you. When you see this number you will be reassured that you are protected and loved by the angels.”

She travelled to England from the couple’s home in Miami to attend Liam’s funeral service at St Mary’s Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, with the support of her friend Damian Hurley. She remained in the country following the funeral and appeared tearful while in London.

Kate had decided to leave South America just days before Liam’s death, as he stayed to sort out his US visa.

In a video she posted on TikTok before Liam died, Kate said: “I was so ready to leave. Love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long and we were supposed to be there for five days, turned into two weeks and I was just like, ‘I need to go home.'”
