The owner of a car shot two teen car theft suspects after confronting them in an alley in Philadelphia.
The incident occurred a little after 6 p.m. when a neighbor saw four teenagers trying to steal a Honda that was parked behind the owner’s house. The neighbor called the owner to tell him what was happening.
When the man went outside, one of the teens pulled a gun, leading the man to shoot at the group. The teens all ran away, but officers who responded to the scene found two 13-year-olds suffering from gunshot wounds.
“We’re not certain right now if that one juvenile who pulled the gun fired any shots. We don’t know at this time. That’s when the owner of the vehicle pulled his weapon and fired, we believe seven shots, striking the two 13-year-olds,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told ABC 6 Action News.
One had been shot in his lower back and the other in his thigh. They were hospitalized at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in stable condition.
The other two teens were found two blocks away and the car owner identified them as suspects.
Inspector Small told NBC 10 Philadelphia the man has a legal carry permit and that the entire incident was caught on a private surveillance camera.
