(Gray News) – The United States Postal Service is temporarily suspending inbound packages from China and Hong Kong until further notice.

Officials with the USPS did not provide a reason for the suspension when making the announcement late Tuesday night.

However, officials also noted that the flow of letters and flats from China and Hong Kong would not be impacted.

Tuesday’s announcement comes amid tensions regarding tariffs between China and the U.S.

CNN reports it is unclear whether the suspension is related to President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection currently has the authority to open and inspect international packages.
