More than £2.5million has been awarded to community groups and organisations in Ayrshire through the National Lottery Community Fund.

In total, 48 groups and organisations from East, North and South Ayrshire have been awarded grants of between £3,741 and £150,000.

Funding awards are set to benefit people the length and breadth of Ayrshire with organisations including Auchinleck Community Development Initiative, Catrine Community Trust, Darvel Area Regeneration Team, Galston Community Development Trust, Corsehill Community Centre, Irvine Cricket Club, The Cumbrae Forum, Barr Community SCIO, Dailly Community Development Trust, The Carrick Centre and Symington Community Projects Limited among those receiving funding.

In total, £921,654 has been awarded to 17 groups in East Ayrshire, £88,307 has been awarded to 15 groups in North Ayrshire and £719,985 has been awarded to 16 groups in South Ayrshire.

Colmonell Community Association were awarded the smallest grant (£3,741) to upgrade the flooring in the village toilets as well as costs of equipment and painting.

In contrast, the largest grant awarded – £150,000 – will support Action Against Stalking in South Ayrshire to provide immediate crisis intervention and support services for stalking victims.

Across Scotland, 549 projects will share total funding of over £23million.
