A house fire in North Ayrshire prompted an emergency response this morning.
Firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene on Eglinton Street, Beith, just after 9.40am on Thursday, February 6, following the outbreak of the fire in a flat.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze which took three fire crews to bring under control.
Nearby businesses have been forced to close following the fire, including the popular Shirley’s Takeaway.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.41am on Thursday, February 6, to reports of a house on fire at Eglinton Street, Beith.
“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a flat within a two-storey building.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
Posting on Facebook, Shirley’s Takeaway said: “Unfortunately, we will be shut for the rest of the day due to a fire in the neighbouring building.”
Police Scotland were contacted for comment.
