Five Citizens’ Advice Bureaux have secured funding from North Lanarkshire Council, allowing them to continue providing independent information and advice services.
North Lanarkshire Council made six location-based funding allocations available for third parties capable of providing these services, which include advice on welfare rights, money and housing, and has now awarded all of these to CAB groups, all in keeping with national standards.
Citizens Advice is an independent charity providing free, impartial and confidential advice with each local bureau helping thousands of people every year.
Only five organisations applied for the commissions, and these were Airdrie CAB, Bellshill CAB, Coatbridge CAB, Cumbernauld CAB and Motherwell and Wishaw CAB. The last of these was appointed to provide services in both areas, receiving two of the financial allocations.
The successful applicants were formally and unanimously approved by councillors at a recent committee meeting.
