BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – A dilapidated home in the City of Bluefield is set to be torn down next week and some of the credit for the demolition is being given to an area resident.
The home located on Frederick Street is scheduled to be demolished on Monday thanks to the city. Area resident, Mary Jo Babbitt says she reported the dilapidated house to the city last spring and is glad it’s finally getting some attention.
Babbitt says the home has been quite an eyesore for a while and she’s encouraging people in the city to reach out to city leaders and voice their opinions on things wrong in the community.
“Little by little, pieces of the house started falling apart. It really makes our neighborhood look terrible. We have to try and maintain a good looking neighborhood and take pride in our homes,” said Babbitt.
Babbitt says she’s very proud of city leaders who are stepping up to help clean up the city.
