KYLE, Texas — Kyle could soon become the home of the fifth-largest skatepark in the Lone Star State.
At its meeting late last month, the Kyle City Council approved moving forward with the next steps to create a skatepark at Gregg-Clarke Park on West Center Street, directing SPA Skateparks to continue its design process.
After reviewing three design options, the council opted for an all-wheels design that includes a pump track, flow bowl and skate plaza. “All-wheels” means the skatepark will allow use by skateboards, cyclists, scooter riders and wheelchair users.
The proposed skatepark will be between 28,000 and 34,000 square feet and will cost roughly $3.4 million, funded in part by a 2020 bond and available Capital Improvement Plan funds.
According to the city of Kyle’s Economic Development Department, in addition to becoming the fifth-largest skatepark in Texas, this skatepark would also be one of only five in Texas to feature an all-wheels approach with an integrated pump track.
