The football looks like it has a new Lionel Messi on its hands – and the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree.

Thiago Messi scored a staggering 11 goals for Inter Miami’s youth team in the U13 MLS tournament on Wednesday. The 12 year old dazzled the crowd with his quick footwork, incredible vision and superb finishing prowess. Messi’s eldest son opened the scoring in the 12th minute, netting FIVE times in the first half alone.

The sparkling youngster shared his father’s hunger for goals as he added his name to the scoreboard in the 51st, 57th, 67th, 76th, 87th and 89th minutes. The only other scorer in the game was by his teammate Diego Luna Jr. Young Messi joined Inter Miami’s youth team after Messi senior arrived at the MLS club to explosive fanfare in July 2023. Wearing the number 10 shirt and playing as an attacking midfielder, Thiago has attracted attention with his performances over the past year.

Messi’s son has caused a stir with many videos of him showing off his skillful dribbling skills. Just 72 hours after his birth, Thiago was given priority to sign a contract with Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys, where his father started out, to open up the possibility of playing for the club in the future. Thiago later played for Barcelona’s youth team before linking up in the US.

Former Liverpool star Luis Suarez also has his son, Benjamin, play for the same Inter Miami youth side.
