A father found dead inside his car after a medical transport plane went down in Philadelphia last week has been named as one of the seven people killed in the fiery crash, which also left his young son with burns covering most of his body.
Steven Dreuitt was driving his long-time partner, Dominique, and his 9-year-old son, Ramses, to the Macy’s store at the Roosevelt Mall when a Learjet 55 suddenly fell from the sky, crashing on Friday near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard.
The aircraft, shuttling six people at the time, burst into flames on impact, which quickly spread to nearby structures and cars.
In the crash’s aftermath, first responders searched vehicles left charred by the incident, including one with 37-year-old Dreuitt inside. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Both his son and girlfriend, who were with him in the car, remained hospitalized as of Thursday. According to family members, Dominique was seriously injured in the crash and suffered burns to 70% of her body.
“She is in a medically induced coma,” her cousin, Shantelle Fletcher told NBC10. “She’s responding well to medication.”
Ramses too was badly burned. His mother, Jamie Vazquez-Viana, told ABC News 6 that 90% of his body is covered in burns.
“It’s surreal. It’s my reality. I’m dying inside. I’m super scared. I’m hurt but I have the support of my family and friends,” she said.
All six people onboard the air ambulance were also killed in the crash in the crash, including 11-year-old Valentina Guzman Murillo. She was supposed to be flying home to Mexico, having just finished treatment at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, when the plane went down just minutes after takeoff.
Her mother, 31-year-old Lizeth Murillo Osuna, was also killed in the crash along with the plane’s crew: Capt. Alan Alejandro Montoya Perales, co-pilot Josue de Jesus Juarez Juarez, Dr. Raul Meza Arredondo and paramedic Rodrigo Lopez Padilla.
Officials said everyone onboard was a Mexican national.
