Outlander fans have been sent into a frenzy after the show shared some official sneak peek shots from the upcoming prequel Blood of My Blood which is set to air in summer 2025.
The Starz show took to Instagram to reveal a series of previews from the upcoming prequel which will follow the love stories of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, and Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp.
Teasing seven snaps of scenes from Blood of My Blood, the official Outlander account captioned the post: “It’s going to be a great summer. #BloodOfMyBlood”
Fans rushed to the comments to share their excitement as one wrote: “I cannot wait to see Blood of My Blood! Looks amazing!”
Another chimed in: “I love him. He looks like I imagined Jamie’s father” while a third joked: “My husband got me a pontoon boat for Christmas. How do I tell him that I won’t be able to use it because I’ll be inside watching and re-watching this all summer long? Please help.”
However, some fans were not pleased that the prequel may come before the eighth and final season of Outlander is released as they vented their frustration in the comments.
Filming for the final season of Outlander wrapped up in September 2024 but a release date has not been confirmed for 2025.

One wrote: “It would be a good summer if we had a release date for season 8”. Another agreed: “I’m glad for you. But, please, could we see the ending of Outlander before? It’s very strange to see the prequel before seeing the ending of story”.
A third added: “I’d rather get Outlander season 8 this summer then get this series in the winter.”
Back in February 2024, Starz announced that the show was in production and confirmed the cast. The release date is still unknown but its been confirmed the prequel will include 10 episodes.
The network shared the first teaser for Blood of My Blood in January 2025.
Although Jamie and Claire will not feature in the show themselves as its before they were born, the prequel will revolve around their parents’ love stories instead.
Jamie’s mother and father, Ellen Mackenzie and Brian Fraser, will be played by Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy while Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, will be portrayed by Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine.
