A popular Scots doggy day care business is closing following claims by the owner he is a “victim of embezzlement”.
Dave Holt posted on social media that his “life savings” have been taken by someone he classed as a “friend”.
It is understood Mr Holt, who runs Holt’s Hounds in Dumfries, is one of dozens of people affected by the alleged embezzlement by an individual who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Police revealed in January that a 68-year-old man had been arrested and released in connection with potential embezzlement in the Dumfries area.
Mr Holt wrote on Holt’s Hound Facebook page: “Holt’s Hounds will be closing down on February 28.
“I wish this had been my choice, as there are few jobs I would rather be doing than the one I have been in.
“It has been a long two weeks, but I will keep this to the point regarding the reason behind it.
“All the money I had saved as a nurse, money I put away for a pension, and money my dad had left me when he died is all gone.
“After speaking to the police and seeking legal advice from a solicitor, there is no way to claim any of this back through insurance.

“This is all still very raw, and I don’t know what will happen down the line after this has been to court, but that will not happen for a long time yet.
“As such, I need to put plans in place to start again and rebuild my savings and this will involve going back to nursing full time.
“I am not talking about all of this to get any sympathy.
“I trusted someone I thought was a friend – someone who would smile, offering help and security.”
