Vincent Kompany knows Celtic will be a different beast to their usual Bundesliga opponents when the Champions League returns next week.
But for now he’s blocked out the noise – with the focus firmly on continuing their title charge against Werder Bremen. The German giants are heading to Glasgow next Wednesday for the first leg of their playoff tie with Brendan Rodgers‘ team. He won’t be taking them lightly and previously described it as a ‘hot’ encounter against the Hoops who have shown up well in the new format of UEFA’s top club competition.
It’s going to be a mouthwatering Euro night at Parkhead with Celtic hoping for a big result that would keep them in with a chance of progress in Munich one week later. But Bayern aren’t thinking about them just yet – keeping their eyes firmly on Bremen who they face at the Allianz Arena tomorrow night.
Kompany said: “In terms of structure, Werder Bremen and Celtic are different. But at the moment there is only Bremen, nothing else. The only game that we can win tomorrow is against Bremen and not Celtic. So the priority for us is only this game against Bremen. They are doing very well away from home. There are no easy games in the Bundesliga.”
