A woman has been airlifted to hospital in critical condition after being struck by a car in Stirling.

The 23-year-old was involved in a collision with a vehicle on the A9 Airthrey Road – near Wallace High and Stirling University – at around 10am this morning (Thursday).

Road policing officers are now appealing for information over the incident.

The 23-year-old pedestrian was flown to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and is in critical condition.

The driver of the Kia Niro was uninjured.

The road was closed to allow for crash investigations to be carried out and reopened to traffic at around 2.10pm.

Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Road Policing Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick said: “I’m appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time and saw what happened to get in contact with police.

“I’d also ask drivers with dashcams to please review your footage to see if you’ve captured anything which may assist our investigation.”

Wallace High head teacher, Scott Pennock, had early contacted pupils’ parents to inform them that the collision did not involve a pupil from the school.
