Embattled Ange Postecoglou has been openly derided during a national radio bulletin and mockingly warned Tottenham should merely “stop playing bad football.”
The 59-year-old cut an ashen-faced figure at Anfield as he watched Liverpool steamroll Tottenham 4-0 to book their place in the Carabao Cup Final against Newcastle. Postecoglou retains the backing of the Spurs hierarchy, however it’s open season in the eyes of pundits and punters who are utterly convinced the concept of Angeball is burst.
A reporter for talkSPORT, in their pre-recorded bulletins for Youtube didn’t hold back as they let rip at the former Celtic manager after his humbling evening at Anfield. “Remember guys, Ange Postecoglou always wins a Cup in his second season in charge, and they are playing Aston Villa in the Cup on Sunday, so what is everything worrying about?”
The broadcaster wasn’t finished and responded brutally to Postecoglou’s ache after his side didn’t show their true face in the Cup pasting at the hands of Arne Slot’s side. They added: “Yeah, I think the lesson is something like, stop playing bad football.”
Postecoglou is down to shots to make his trophy prophecy come true – the FA Cup fourth round clash with Villa is up first before they return to Europa League action in the last 16 stage in March and he had a message for TV pundits in his post match press conference. He added: “I know a lot of people get really excited about things like that. People on television are paid to give options, that’s their job, my job isn’t to scan television and the media and see what people say, it’s to manage this football team.
“At the end of the day, everyone is allowed to have an opinion and express that opinion. My view is I don’t really need to respond to that. I don’t care if it is Jamie Redknapp or anyone.”
