SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV/Gray News) – A Wisconsin girls’ basketball coach says she is enjoying building up the program while getting those in the community involved.
Sun Prairie East girls’ head basketball coach Crystal Brandl says her plans of building a solid program at the school are coming together.
“Just the desire to see girls basketball grow again in Sun Prairie,” she said. “It’s time to get more youth involved. It was a great opportunity to come back to some of the kids I’ve had in middle school.”
Brandl said the work is paying off.
According to Brandl, the Sunny P East program could have three teams for the first time since the program split to east and west.
“We had 40 girls come out this year and I think I had 37 at the middle school,” Brandl said.
And out of those 40 girls in the program, Sun Prairie East has three sets of twins – a “triple-double” for the Cardinals.
”How special and how special that they all landed on the same team as their sister? That’s pretty cool,” Brandl said.
The twins are sophomores Cam & Kate Dwyer, freshmen Isamae & Kasia Cleveland and freshmen De’asia & Daysia Watkins.
