(Gray News) – LG is recalling 500,000 electric ranges involved in more than two dozen house fires, killed at least three pets and caused several injuries.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said it received nearly 90 reports of people and pets accidentally turning on the front knobs of the LG Slide-in Ranges and Freestanding Ranges.
The ranges were sold at Best Buy, Costco and The Home Depot between 2015 and January 2025. It covers about two dozen different models.
Several of the reported issues caused a total of more than $340,000 in property damage.
Anyone with the electric ranges can reach out to LG to get a warning label to remind them to push a lock button when the range isn’t in use to prevent it from accidentally turning on.
LG says it’s reminding consumers about its unique safety function called “lock out” or “control lock.”
A spokesperson said the company is proud of this patented LG invention explicitly designed to enhance the safety of the ranges.
