Meghan Markle’s recent Instagram video, in which she packs signed merchandise for a young girl who was affected by the Los Angeles wildfires, has described it as “rehearsed” by a psychologist.

However, the expert also suggests that the duchess may have still formed a genuine connection with the victim.

In the Instagram reel posted earlier this week, Meghan, 43, explained how she had met with a young girl and her mother whose home had been destroyed during the LA fires last month, the Mirror reports.

The former Suits star revealed the 15-year-old girl is a huge fan of Billie Eilish and had been heartbroken to discover that her t-shirt of the popstar had been left in their washing machine which had turned to ash.

American singer Billie Eilish, 23, got in touch to send some signed items for her teenage fan thanks to the help of Meghan who unpackaged the parcel on camera to her Instagram followers.

Psychologist Adam Lyons examined the video and told the Express: “There’s nothing repeated or unusual about her gestures here. She is, however, acting or presenting – in the sense that nobody receives a package and immediately turns their camera on to film it.”

He added: “She definitely looks natural, but natural in the way an actor or someone performing to camera would look.”

In the video, Meghan thanked Billie Eilish, as well as other individuals such as Maroon 5’s lead vocalist and his wife, for their help.

A body language expert has analysed Meghan Markle’s efforts to secure certain items, stating: “Overall, you have to think about why somebody would put in this much effort to help somebody get a single t-shirt.”

They suggested that while Meghan may have formed a genuine connection and felt inspired to go the extra mile, her decision to document the process suggests it was more about self-promotion than altruism.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared emotional in the video as she described contacting a mother and daughter whose home was destroyed by devastating fires that razed over 12,000 homes.

Opting for a casual look, Meghan wore a sweatshirt adorned with the names of her children – Archie and Lilibet – on the collar and chose to appear without makeup.

The sweatshirt, embroidered by female-owned Chicago brand Club Chainstitch, added a personal touch. A psychologist and dating expert also commented, saying: “This video is done to show that she is a good person that really cares. It comes across as natural, and it isn’t forced – but it is a naturally rehearsed video.”
