Lanarkshire’s ever popular Glassford Beer and Gin Festival returns next month.

Hundreds of revellers are expected to flock to the South Lanarkshire village for the much-anticipated annual event on Saturday, March 29.

Brewers and independent brands from across Scotland will flock to Avondale for the big day, with music and taste-testing events from a number of local beer, gin and rum suppliers, with select drams and food on offer.

All the usual favourites will be there with a great selection of beer, gin, spirits, wine, prosecco and cocktails. Alcohol-free is also available.

The community event sees the closure of Jackson Street, with the party atmosphere spilling out into a huge marquee as revellers dance the day away to a host of live musicians, bands and local radio station, Avondale Radio, who will be broadcasting live from the village hall throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

The marquee stage will be hosted by former Real Radio DJ Steve McKenna where the festival’s ever popular silent disco will be making a comeback.

Les Hoggan, secretary of Glassford Community Group, said: “The beer and gin festival has always been a popular event and it kicks off the Avondale festival season.

“We always bring in a good range of brewers and each brewer will have a full bar with a section for each of the gin companies as well.

“It’s a great day out and is also helping to raise funds for Glassford Community Group now that we’ve taken over ownership of the village hall. This will help with our plans to redevelop the hall into a community hub.”

The event runs from 1pm till 9pm between the Village Hall, the Steayban and Jackson Street. And there will be a free shuttle bus running from Strathaven every 15 minutes throughout the day as well as the public bus passing through.

Tickets cost £22.38 from Eventbrite or behind the bar at the Glassford Inn and Roasted Cafe in Strathaven.

Please note this event is over-18s only.
