HONOLULU (KHNL/Gray News) – A woman is suing Alaska Airlines after she says she was sexually assaulted by an intoxicated passenger.
According to the lawsuit, the incident happened on a flight from Seattle to Honolulu in May 2023.
The woman claims a male passenger, who was seated across the aisle and is also named as a defendant, was over-served alcohol by flight attendants on the flight.
The lawsuit said he was inappropriate with the plaintiff multiple times and allegedly groped her.
Officers met the suspect when the flight landed in Honolulu.
“In one of the police reports, a deputy sheriff noted that the perpetrator was slurring his speech. He had red and glassy eyes, and he could barely carry his luggage,” the plaintiff’s attorney, Mark Lindquist, said. “So, obviously he was still intoxicated when they landed.”
The suit alleges negligence, assault and battery against the defendant, and negligence against Alaska Airlines for over-serving him.
A spokesperson for the airline said the company does not comment on active litigation.
