Armed cops were forced to smash through the bathroom door of a family home to make arrests in a major drugs raid.

Officers descended onto the residential street in North Belfast to execute two search warrants on Saturday morning. The Armed Response Unit gained entry by cutting through a locked door in the property.

After forcing entry, the occupant then “attempted to hide and destroy evidence.” But they were detained by police, with officers searching the address and seizing a quantity of class A controlled drugs and cash.

Images shared on social media show the bathroom door of the property smashed with debris spilled over the floor.

As reported in Belfast Live, a spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Tennent Street Neighbourhood Officers attended an address in North Belfast this morning to execute two search warrants. We gained entry with the assistance of our colleagues in the Armed Response Unit ensuring a rapid and dynamic entry was made.

“The occupant attempted to hide from us and destroy evidence however a locked door did not prevent us from detaining the occupant, searching the address and seizing a quantity of class A controlled drugs and cash.”
