ATLANTA — Cracker Barrel is cracking jokes over yokes.
As Waffle House customers adjust to a new 50-cent per egg surcharge, Cracker Barrel is flipping the script with an egg-citing promotion of its own.
Starting Friday, February 7, Cracker Barrel offers double reward points to customers who order egg-based dishes. The promotion runs through Wednesday, February 12, and it aims to lure in those looking to stretch their breakfast dollars while egg prices soar.

Cracker Barrel took a playful jab in an Instagram post: “Egg surcharges? Never heard of it.”
Waffle House, an Atlanta-based staple known for its 24/7 service and classic breakfast dishes, announced the temporary surcharge this week in response to rising egg prices caused by an avian flu outbreak. The company emphasized that the charge was meant to offset costs while continuing to serve fresh, Grade A eggs.
Waffle House said its surcharge is temporary, but Cracker Barrel has absolutely seen it as an opportunity to flip the competition in its favor.
Egg prices, mostly everywhere, have skyrocketed due to the avian flu, which has reduced supply and led grocery stores to limit purchases. Some stores, including Publix and Lidl, have reported empty shelves, with prices reaching over $7 per dozen in certain areas.
