A 27-year-old woman died following a single-car crash on a Queens highway early Saturday, but investigators aren’t clear who was behind the wheel when the impact occurred, police said.
A four-door white Toyota sedan was traveling east on the Belt Parkway near 225th St. in Laurelton around 3:50 a.m. when the driver lost control of the car and slammed into the side of an underpass.
When police arrived, both the 27-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man had already gotten out of the mangled wreck, police said.
EMS rushed the woman to Long Island Jewish Hospital-Valley Stream, where she later died. Her name was not immediately released as cops track down family members.
The 30-year-old man was taken to North Shore University Hospital, where he was expected to survive.
Since both occupants were out of the car at the time of the crash, investigators haven’t figured out who was driving, police said.
An investigation into the crash was continuing Saturday.
