Police officers in Lanarkshire have seized controlled drugs worth around £150,000.

On Friday, February 7, officers acting on intelligence searched a man and a woman on Muir Street, Motherwell recovering cannabis with a street value in the region of £150,000.

A 40-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with this recovery. They are due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, February 10.

Detective Superintendent Steven Elliott said: “We are determined to protect the public from harmful criminality by disrupting sale of illegal substances and preventing them from being circulated on the streets of our community.

“Information from the public is crucial to our work and we encourage anyone with information or concerns about drug-related activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
