It’s been quite a while since Scots contestants have been on popular Channel 4 cooking competition Come Dine With Me, and this week it was set in Glasgow.

In true Scottish fashion it came with a side of chaos, so much so that winner Garry Macdonald said that everything wasn’t actually aired. “The arguments were even bigger, the laughter was louder, and the drama was next level,” he quipped.

Two contestants Bernadette and Lauren were at loggerheads from episode one over a dispute over fish, then known as ‘fishgate’.

The pair couldn’t agree on whether sea bass steaks were real or not and the discussions rumbled on all week with things blowing up on Garry’s night when voices were raised.

Fans watching on took to social media to talk about the chaotic episodes, with many branding it ‘TV gold’.

On one clip on TikTok, one fan penned: “Fishgate is now put to rest, brilliant week in Glasgow’.

Another wrote: “my god, fishgate is sumin else!”

While one laughed: “Can we just make a separate Glasgow come dine with me?”

Another said: “This can’t be real!” “This is chaotic and I’m living for it”, another said.

“This was brilliant, though I was watching Towie but a Scot version”, while another wrote: “This is like a scene from two doors down”.

And contestant Garry, who scooped the £1000 prize spoke following the episodes airing, said: “What a week! Being on Come Dine With Me was an absolutely wild ride. So much drama, so much laughter, and some seriously unforgettable moments. The atmosphere was electric from start to finish, and let’s just say… not everyone saw eye to eye!

“There were fiery debates, unexpected twists, and plenty of tension simmering alongside the food, but that just made it all the more entertaining. From delicious disasters to shocking showdowns, every night brought something new, and I loved every second of it.”

Garry says he thinks his night was the best despite the drama blowing up.

He said: “My evening stood out because, quite simply, I put on a night to remember! I treated my guests to a stunning menu, made sure the drinks were flowing, and went all out with top-tier entertainment. I wanted everyone to feel looked after, whether that meant keeping their glasses full, making sure they were having fun, or-yes—mopping up the blood!

“It was a night of glamour, drama, and a touch of chaos, but that’s what makes great TV, right? If you’re going to host, you’ve got to do it properly, and I made sure my night was nothing short of fabulous!”
