The Masked Singer has unveiled the latest celebrity behind the mask, with Bear being eliminated and sent home on Saturday night.
The semi-final kicked off with five characters – Bush, Dressed Crab, Wolf, Pufferfish, and Bear – vying for just three spots in the final next weekend.
Despite their best efforts, it was Bear who received the fewest votes and had to unmask.
Judges Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, and Maya Jama were taken aback to find out that it was Example who had been entertaining them over the past weeks, particularly with his rendition of Charles Aznavour’s classic ‘She’ in the semi-final.
“It’s been great,” he said after removing his bear mask.
Last week, viewers were stunned by a double elimination, revealing Kingfisher as artist Grayson Perry and Snail as singer Andrea Corr.
Grayson expressed his disappointment to host Joel Dommett, saying, “I was gutted when I got knocked out. I had two really lovely songs lined up for next week.
“I was going to sing Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins and there wouldn’t have been a dry eye in the place! I’d already been practising. I could hardly get through without blubbing. And then I was going to do Stick Season by Noah Kahan. That’s a great song. Lots of words though. Very hard to learn but I had it nailed and I was really looking forward to it.”
Celebrities on the show often express disappointment at departing before they’ve had the chance to perform all their chosen songs, reports the Mirror.
TV host Mel Giedroyc, who was unmasked as Teeth the previous week, shared her feelings: “I just feel it’s a win-win. I didn’t think I’d get this far, I think I’ve got over half way which is great! It’s been so fun. I feel really elated actually. I blooming loved it. I’m sad because my next song was Pointer Sisters’ Automatic done as Marlene Dietrich. That would have been fun.”
She continued: “Listen, if you told me you’re going to have a chance to sing the Neighbours theme tune dressed as an enormous pair of wind up teeth with pink tights and big pink flapping feet, I would say I could stop my career now. For me that is the pinnacle! ” Other celebrities unveiled in this series include Prue Leith as Pegasus, Kate Garraway as Spaghetti Bolognese, T’Pau’s Carol Decker as Tattoo, and Macy Gray as Toad In The Hole.
Additionally, in the Christmas special preceding the series, Mo Farah was revealed to be under the Giant Joel Dommett head.
