Paul Norton had been on administrative leave in December.

AUSTIN, Texas — Lake Travis ISD voted during a special meeting on Friday night to dismiss Superintendent Paul Norton and allow him to resign.

The move came after several hours of discussion and consultation with attorneys behind closed doors in closed session.

Norton, who had been the Superintendent of Lake Travis ISD since August 2020, has been on paid administrative leave since December following what the district described as “allegations of misconduct.” The district still has not shared specific details of the allegations Norton faced, only saying that they didn’t relate to students of district finances.

After more than two and a half hours of closed session, when trustees came back in the room, they voted unanimously to accept Norton’s letter of resignation.

According to the Texas Education Agency, Norton’s base salary as superintendent was around $418,000. He will still be paid by the district through the end of the school year.
