Delighted Tony Docherty praised Rangers-bound Lyall Cameron for his performance and his continued commitment to Dundee – helping fire them into the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
The Dark Blues easily swept a-side struggling Airdrie with a 4-0 win at Dens Park, thanks to Clark Robertson, Oluwaseun Adewmui and a Cameron double, putting them into Monday’s draw. The midfielder signed a pre-contract for a summer move to the Ibrox side earlier this month but showed he is determined to depart the Dark Blues on a high.
Tony Docherty said: “Lyall is fully committed to this football club and you can see that by the reaction he got from the fans when he came off. He got his two goals and I just took him off because we are nursing that Achilles injury. Every objective we have at this football club, Lyall Cameron is a massive part of it.

“He has real high standards and is a really ambitious young man. He is really talented and we use that. There are more chances of winning matches with Lyall Cameron in our team. Not just because of his ability but also his mentality and his attitude, which has served him well. It will also serve Dundee well between now and the end of the season.”
Dundee got the job done and a clean sheet into the bargain, which was important after consecutive 6-0 defeats. Docherty added: “I asked the players for a reaction and they showed me that. I am delighted because the objective was coming through the tie and keeping a clean sheet. It was a real professional job and we won it in the first half.”
