Fans were divided over the final question on Saturday night’s episode of The 1% Club
This week, only five contestants successfully made it all the way to the last question. The show, hosted by Lee Mack, gives contestants a choice before taking on the last question. The final five were asked if they wanted to take a share of £10,000 or play on for the jackpot of £99,000.
They all opted to take on the last question, however, but only one of them made a guess.
Contestant Matthew took home the grand prize pot of £99k after correctly spotting the answer.
The question was: “If you remove all the underlined letters from the sentence below, what word can be spelt if you rearrange all of the remaining letters.”
The sentence was ANIMAL TOSHUNINSTAMPEDE.
The correct answer was Elephant.
Many fans were divided over the question with some saying it was impossible to get in the time given with others saying they successfully made it to The 1% Club.
They took to social media to discuss.
One wrote: “Normally good at anagrams but couldn’t get that in 30 seconds.”
Another said: “They were sneaky with the letter P , I’m sure a lot of people missed it, crafty behaviour from the writers of the show #The1PercentClub.”
While one penned: “Wasn’t seeing that, congratulations to the winner!”
“Nthape Pathne? Nooo Thaphne? Nooo Uhhhh….. Got nothing #The1PercentClub It was Elephant! I’m not in the 1% club *crys*”
“I missed the P, I was like “Ant-heel?” #the1percentclub“, another commented.
Another said: “#The1PercentClub so the sentence was a clue to the word which I should have considered when working out the anagram.”
However, others were delighted to get it. One said: “Yes I did it again 2 weeks running. I’ve just finished playing The 1% Club. #the1percentclub.”
Another said the clue was in the question: “Elephant the clue was there.”
While one added: “#The1PercentClub I’m terrible at anagrams but that is still easier than previous 1% questions.”
