Donald Trump has taken a swipe at Taylor Swift after she was booed by NFL fans at Super Bowl LIX.

The President, who was greeted with cheers upon his arrival at New Orleans’ Caesar’s Superdome on Sunday, was the first sitting president to attend the finale.

Despite backing the Kansas City Chiefs to win, the 78-year-old made a swift exit as his chosen team were dominated 40-14 by the Philadelphia Eagles. However, Trump couldn’t resist taking a dig at Swift, who was in the crowd supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce.

On Truth Social, Trump mercilessly criticised the 35-year-old, sharing contrasting videos of his applause and the boos that filled the stadium when Swift appeared on the screens, the Mirror reports.

He also reposted another user’s post captioned: “Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed.”

Trump wrote in a separate post: “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving! ” Despite Trump’s assertions, Swift did not leave the stadium due to the booing.

The pair already have a contentious history, with the President previously stating he “hated” the Fortnight singer, who publicly supported Kamala Harris in the previous year’s election.

Swift, known for not mincing her words about Donald Trump, had previously expressed support for Biden and Harris during the 2020 elections and voiced criticisms against then-President Trump’s stance on Black Lives Matter. She once pointedly accused him of “stoking the fires of white supremacy your entire presidency”.

Following her endorsement of Democrat Phil Bredesen in the 2018 Tennessee mid-terms, Trump had stated that he liked Swift’s music “25% less”.

Swift was seen at the stadium with friends, the Haim sisters and rapper Ice Spice on Sunday evening but notably did not join Patrick Mahomes’ family in posing for photos with the former President.

Trump has openly admired Patrick Mahomes and his wife in the past, even telling FOX News: “I’ve watched this great quarterback, who’s got a phenomenal wife. She is a Trump fan and a MAGA fan, I happen to love her, she’s a great person.”

Before the game, Trump expressed his opinion to the media outlet: “I guess you have to say that when a quarterback wins as much as he’s won – I have to go with Kansas City. At the same time, Philadelphia is fantastic, it’s going to be just a great game.”

His comments came after the Eagles previously snubbed the President, refusing to attend Trump’s White House back in 2018 after their Super Bowl win that year.
