TAZEWELL COUNTY, Va. – Graduations are always special, as individuals have put in the time to better their lives in one way or another. On Monday, Feb. 10, Tazewell County celebrated a special one.
Eight Tazewell residents graduated from the most recent recovery court program. Each received a certificate noting completion, as well as the knowledge that their charges have officially been expunged.
“To see parents see their kids get their lives back is a huge thing for me. It’s my greatest passion outside of my faith and my family,” said Judge Chip Hurley, who presented the graduates with their certificates.
Looking on in this Tazewell County courtroom with love and admiration were the family, friends and supporters of each of these graduates.
Both coordinators and participants in this program said the end result was well worth it.
“They are the perfect role models if there ever was one. And they have truly set the standard of success for me as I’ve transitioned into my new role for Buchanan County Recovery Court Coordinator. They set the top tier of it and I’m so proud of each of them,” said Ashley Shreve, who also delivered a speech to the graduates, noting their journeys in recovery.
Eight is the most who’ve graduated at one time and recovery court is marking its 20th year in Tazewell County, making this event all the more special.
Congratulations to the graduates!
