A further two men have been arrested in connection with violent chaos that unfolded ahead of the Old Firm League Cup final last year.

Large scale disorder broke out on Sunday, December 15 with Rangers and Celtic thugs clashing in Glasgow city centre.

On Friday last week police confirmed that four men, aged 23, 26, 27 and 28, were all arrested and charged. Officers had executed warrants across Glasgow and South Lanarkshire as they vowed to hunt down more yobs.

Today they’ve revealed another two men, aged 22, and 38, were arrested and charged on Sunday.

All six of the men are due in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court today, Monday, February 10. Reports will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Officers say their investigation into the disorder is still ongoing and they are continuing to try and trace more individuals responsible.

Ultra groups rampaged down Argyle Street ahead of the Premier Sports Cup Final at Hampden.

Christmas shoppers were captured screaming in terror as flares and other pyrotechnic devices were launched at cops.

The shameful scenes were condemned by First Minister John Swinney at the time describing the disorder as “completely and utterly unacceptable”.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: “Our operation into the large-scale disorder is ongoing and our enquiries continue to identify and trace those involved. Anyone who has any information that could assist our investigation is urged to attend at a local police station or contact us via 101.”
