A mum who was described as her heartbroken family as “beautiful” and “much-loved” has been named as Megan Hughes.
The 31-year-old sadly died on Sunday, 9 after officers were called to a property in Windram Road around 4.35am.
Her family has asked for privacy at this difficult time and paid tribute to the mum writing: “Megan was a much-loved mother and daughter. She was beautiful and caring. This has left a massive hole in the family who are all absolutely devastated.”
Corey Dryden, 31, appeared at Jedburgh Sheriff Court this afternoon in connection with her death.
Dryden, of Berwickshire, faces a single charge of murder. He made no plea during his behind-closed-doors hearing, where he was remanded in custody.
No future court dates have been set, but Dryden is expected to make his second appearance in connection with the case, which will also be in private, next week.
Detective Inspector Laura White said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Megan at this difficult time. We will continue to support them as the investigation continues.”
