Sally Nugent is normally delivering the latest news on BBC Breakfast, but the journalist is believed to live in an impressive £1.4million home when she’s not on on our TV screens.
The 53-year-old stepped into a permanent role on BBC Breakfast in October 2021 – replacing Louise Minchin – joining co-presenters Dan Walker, Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty on the red sofa.
With over 25 years of journalism experience, Sally has also made her mark as a sports reporter for BBC News and showcased her dancing skills on the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special in 2023.
Off-camera, Sally lives in Greater Manchester in a four-bedroom home complete with lavish features such as an in-house gym and a piano. She reportedly shares the £1.4million home with her adorable cavapoo, after splitting from her husband , Gavin Hawthorn in 2023 – with the age of their son remaining private.
While Sally maintains privacy regarding her family life, lockdown saw her share insight into her home renovations – including converting a room into a home gym, complete with a spin bike, reports the Mirror.

She took to social media sharing pictures of her bike positioned in the backdrop of stunning parquet flooring and captioned it: “This is my before picture for the #bigbikein. No one will ever see the ‘after’. Really enjoyed my 30 miles. The brilliant @louiseminchin is still pedalling. She’s doing a hundred! #nhs #stayathome #savelives.”
Sally also indulges in music with a large traditional piano inside her home, having revealed she previously mastered Adele’s iconic song ‘Make You Feel My Love’ using a metronome to guide her.

The aesthetic to her house is minimalist, but she uses fairy lights to add a magical touch. Daytime reveals the true charm of her home with natural light pouring in through a large window, that brightens the stairway and a windowsill lined with beloved family photographs.
Her bedroom exudes understated elegance, with long gold drapes, a cream carpet, and beige walls creating a serene ambience. The space is uncluttered, features only the essentials: a double bed and a mirror, which is often captured in her selfies.

In a candid chat with Radio Times, Sally gave a closer glimpse into life at home as she shared: “My sofa is in my kitchen diner and there’s a giant flat-screen TV on the wall.” She also said at the time, “During the lockdown, we all got hooked on Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix, but it’ll come as no surprise that I’m a news junkie.”

Revealing her morning ritual to The Sunday Times, Sally shared her routine saying: “My alarm goes off at 3.45am. I don’t have a loud, scary one that gives you a coronary. I use a light box that gently wakes me. I have a back-up phone alarm set every five minutes from 3.50am. Touch wood, I’ve never had to use it.
“Before I do anything I check the overnight briefing notes on my phone to see which guests have been confirmed, what news we’ve slept through and the latest political line.”
