Lennon Miller has handed Motherwell a boost after returning to full training ahead of Saturday’s clash with Ross County.
The Fir Park star hasn’t featured since fracturing an ankle in the 2-2 draw with Rangers on December 29. But the 18-year-old is ahead of schedule in his recovery and, along with Jair Tavares, is back in full contact training. Miller’s influence in the middle of the park has been a huge miss for Well who have lost their last four games and won just one of the seven games since the midfielder’s injury.
Stuart Kettlewell stepped down as boss two weeks ago but the playmaker’s progress will be a huge positive for caretaker Stephen Frail even if this weekend’s clash with the Staggies comes too soon. Miller was subject of two huge offers from Udinese in the January window while Belgians Royale Union Saint-Gilloise also reportedly failed in tempting the Steelmen with a club record bid.
With 18 months left on his deal Miller is set to attract more bids in the summer with Motherwell believed to value the teen at £4.5m. Before then the Fir Park club will hope he can help turn around form and drive them back towards the top five before then.
The injury crisis that hampered Kattlewell in recent weeks has also seen Jack Vale return to Blackburn for surgery on an Achilles injury and the striker is set to be out for a significant period.
Fellow frontman Apostolos Stamatelopoulos is still recovering from a calf injury while Norwich loanee Archie Mair has also gone under the knife after the goalkeeper fractured his hand. Marvin Kaleta, who hobbled off against Celtic with a knee issue is also a doubt for the weekend clash with County.
