A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a Scots home. Corey Dryden appeared at Jedburgh Sheriff Court this afternoon.
The 31-year-old was detained by officers from Police Scotland in connection with the death of a woman, who was also aged 31, at a property in the Borders.
Emergency services were called to Windram Road in Chirnside, Duns on Sunday. They attended at around 4.35am after reports of a woman being seriously injured.
Paramedics attended but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and a death probe was launched, and Dryden was arrested during the investigation.
Police Scotland revealed he had been charged in connection with the woman’s death and that he was due to appear in court this afternoon in connection with the case.
Dryden, of Berwickshire, faces a single charge of murder. He made no plea during his behind-closed-doors hearing, where he was remanded in custody.
No future court dates have been set, but Dryden is expected to make his second appearance in connection with the case, which will also be in private, next week.
Detective Inspector Laura White said previously: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this very difficult time. Specialist officers are providing support to her family as our investigation continues.”
Officer Stuart Fletcher said: “We understand this incident will cause concern within the local community and I want to reassure residents that there will be an ongoing police presence in the area.”
The Chief Inspector added: “Additional patrols are being carried out and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to officers.”
