Outlander star Sam Heughan’s new series is finally available to watch on Starz in the US following his penultimate turn as Highlander Jamie Fraser.
Along with his co-star Caitriona Balfe as time-travelling nurse Claire Fraser, Heughan returned to screens at the end of last year for the latest thrilling chapter in the Fraser saga.
Sadly, their time as the beloved TV pair has come to an end, with just one more season of Outlander left to be released that will wrap up their epic story.
Until then, fans in the US and UK have been given the chance to see Heughan in an entirely different light as he recently starred in the steamy erotic thriller, The Couple Next Door.
Originally airing on Channel 4, it quickly became a sensation and is now causing a splash on Starz across the pond.
The Scottish heartthrob recently swung by The Kelly Clarkson Show to discuss the series.
“We filmed in Belgium, which was so much fun,” he recalled. “The people are amazing and the director I worked with, Dries [Vos], actually the whole crew were so fun.
“We had such a good time. They work very differently out there. You don’t get a trailer, everyone sits down to lunch together and has breakfast together.
“The crew helped each department, the sound guys pitched in with the prop guys.”
He also hinted that things behind-the-scenes went a little bit more off the rails compared to his time on Outlander: “And they like to party, as well.”
Clarkson replied: “I heard they liked to party. Out of all the departments, which one was like, ‘Watch out for that group’?
“There was a clear winner,” Heughan revealed. “It was definitely the lighting guys.”
“Lighting guys, lighting guys are wild,” Clarkson agreed, knowingly.
Heughan went on: “They are wild. They threw a party every month and… there they are!” He laughed and pointed while Clarkson’s lighting crew went wild for the cameras.
“Every month each department threw a different party,” he continued. “And the lighting guys built this enormous slip and slide that was two storeys high.
“There were bubbles and there was a DJ, it was great fun.”
In The Couple Next Door, Heughan portrays traffic cop Danny, the new neighbours of Evie (played by Eleanor Tomlinson) and Pete (Alfred Enoch) who move in next door.
The two couples soon become entangled in each other’s lives in surprising ways, but Evie soon finds herself biting off more than she can chew after a hot and heavy encounter with Danny.
Another season has been commissioned, though with an entirely new cast.
