Tennis legend Andy Murray claims he is now “terrible” at the sport, just a mere six months after retiring.

Andy retired from his tennis career in August last year, after a defeat in the men’s doubles quarter-finals at the Paris Summer Olympics.

Now, the 37-year-old is trying his hand at other sports such as skiing and golf.

Andy opened up on Sir Chris Hoy’s podcast, Sporting Misadventures, about his current feelings towards tennis now that he has retired.

Speaking to the cycling star, Andy claimed he felt guilty for playing any other sport when he was at the height of his tennis success. He said: “When I was playing I would feel guilty doing things like that, that potentially where a little bit dangerous.

“If I played golf my back was sore and I wasn’t able to train properly the next day on the tennis court and in the gym. I would feel guilty about doing that, if it wasn’t helping my tennis performance.”

The Scot went on to say that it’s been ‘nice’ to get to play the sports he has ‘always wanted to’ since he finished playing tennis professionally.

The shock revelation from the podcast was that Andy revealed he had “not missed playing at all.” Sharing with Chris that he has only played tennis three times since the Olympics, and has “no desire to do it right now.”

During those three games of tennis Andy had said he was “terrible” claiming: “I played so badly.” Despite playing badly the star had enjoyed it as he “didn’t find it frustrating or anything.”

Since retiring Andy is hoping to better his golfing ability and taking an interesting in becoming a keen skier.

As well as taking care of his hotel business and continuing his tennis coaching career, his main desire is spending time with his family – wife Kim Sears and their four children – rather than being on the road all the time as a professional tennis player.
