A Long Island high school student has been arrested for allegedly posting a threat of mass harm on Snapchat, authorities said.

The 18-year-old female student is accused of making the threat on Tuesday, prompting an investigation from Suffolk County Police.

Second Precinct officers responded to Huntington High School just before noon after police received a tip about the threat, GreaterLongIsland.com reported.

The student, who has not been identified, was taken into custody and charged with making a threat of mass harm. She will undergo an evaluation and is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.

Following an investigation, authorities deemed the threat “non-credible,” the Huntington Union Free School District said in a letter to the community, according to Patch.

“I also want to take this opportunity to remind everyone about the significant risks associated with social media and making threats,” Beth McCoy, the district’s superintendent, said in the statement. “Such actions may have serious consequences and can impact our entire school community.”

Elsewhere in New York State, two teens were also arrested Tuesday for allegedly participating in multiple “swatting” calls targeting Bethlehem Central schools, just outside Albany, in September and October 2024.

Police arrested a 15-year-old Bethlehem Central High School student, while a 14-year-old suspect was arrested in Canada by the Ontario Provincial Police.

The New York teenager was charged with conspiracy and making a terroristic threat, the latter of which is a felony, according to Bethlehem Police Chief Gina Cocchiara. The suspect was released from custody on an appearance ticket.
