Susanna Reid has made public her plans to take a temporary break from presenting on Good Morning Britain. During Wednesday’s broadcast, the ITV anchor was alongside Ed Balls as she welcomed viewers to the show.

The pair and their guests engaged in discussions about several critical issues, including the 2023 Nottingham attack inquiry, the problem of litter across the UK, and growing concerns regarding child dental health.

As the show approached its end, Susanna, aided by Ed, joined regular commentators Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire to analyse the day’s news before handing over to Lorraine Kelly.

Confirming her short leave, she assured fans of her return post-half-term, stating, “Andrew, Kevin, good to see you this morning. I will be back after half term. Good Morning Britain is back tomorrow from six, now it’s time to join Lorraine.”

The identity of Susanna’s stand-in during her absence from the show remains a topic of speculation, with potential substitutes being fellow presenters such as Ranvir Singh, Kate Garraway, or Charlotte Hawkins.

Susanna, known for her appearances on BBC Breakfast, Sunday Morning Live, and The Andrew Marr Show, became the face of ITV’s flagship morning programme, Good Morning Britain, in 2014. She typically presents the show from Monday to Wednesday, alongside a changing roster of co-hosts.

In other developments from today’s episode, Charlotte Hawkins interrupted the broadcast to share breaking news. She revealed that industry regulator Ofwat is investigating Thames Water over delays in implementing environmental improvement schemes, reports the Mirror.

The probe will determine whether the company has failed to deliver these schemes over the past five years. Wednesday’s GMB also featured a conversation with Vernon Kay, who hinted at his possible involvement in the celebrity version of The Traitors and I’m a Celeb: All Stars.
