A husband and wife have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in a Scots care home together.

Marion and her husband Pat Galloway marked their five decade long romance last week.

The couple, who have two daughters, first met as teens in 1971 after being set up on a blind date at a house party and went on to tie the knot the following year.

The loved-up pair were presented with a surprise cake by staff

Marion resides in Ailsa Craig’s Millport community, and her loving husband Pat visits her every day.

The loved-up pair, who are both in their 70s, celebrated their anniversary with a private meal for two at the care home before being presented with a surprise cake by staff and dancing together to their wedding song ‘Let’s Get Together’ by Al Green.

Fiona Pryce, HC-One Scotland’s Ailsa Craig Wellbeing Coordinator, said:”Marion and Pat are the perfect example of true love and dedication to one another.

“We are delighted to be able to assist in celebrating their love on their anniversary.

“Moments like these are why we love our role.”
