As many as 40 jobs are set to go at a manufacturing firm in Renfrewshire.

The Paisley Daily Express understands that long-standing Inchinnan-based blinds manufacturer Eclipse Blinds is to close this summer.

And the bombshell news is expected to leave around 40 employees on the scrapheap at the firm’s base in Fountain Crescent.

The news of the closure and job losses has been described as “devastating” by one union official who represents some of the workforce.

Lorna Glen, Unite the Union’s industrial officer: “Unite can confirm that Eclipse Blinds site in Inchinnan will close at the end of June.

“It’s devastating news for everyone and we know that some workers have been there for over 30 years.”

The firm was bought over by Dutch company Hunter Douglas in 2022 as part of a £15.5 million deal and been operating since 1970. The factory, which manufactures various types of blinds and curtains, will now cease production in the summer.

Parent company Hunter Douglas is the largest window blind company in the world with distribution in over 40 different countries.

Lorna Glen added: “Unite is working hard to represent our members to ensure that they secure the best possible redundancy package and are supporting workers throughout the process.”

Hunter Douglas was contacted by Renfrewshire Live for a response.
