SAN ANTONIO — The Olmos Park man accused of killing his wife and hiding her body appeared on court Wednesday.
Brad Simpson is facing a murder charge in the death of Suzanne Simpson, who disappeared around four months ago.
In court Wednesday, a judge reset the hearing for 30 days as lawyers from both parties wait for discovery documents to come through from the Texas Rangers.
This was Simpson’s first hearing in the new year. He last appeared in court in December when a judge made slight modifications to his bond conditions. It came shortly after he was indicted on several charges including murder in the death of his wife Suzanne.
Simpson was first arrested on Oct. 9, accused of unlawful restraint and assaulting Suzanne after a neighbor told law enforcement he saw them in a physical struggle outside their home the evening of Oct. 6. That same neighbor reported hearing screams from a nearby wooded area, and reportedly told investigators he saw Brad leaving in his truck before returning one or two hours later.
Investigators used surveillance video, cell phone data, and other witness accounts to track Simpson’s movements on Oct. 7-8. That evidence led to his being charged with Suzanne’s murder on Nov. 7.
Just last week, James Cotter, the man arrested and accused of trying to help Brad hide a gun, was in court.
He asked the judge to lift travel restrictions put on him, and the court did. Cotter can now travel for work in California and meet with his family in Oklahoma. However, he must remain on GPS tracking as part of the deal.
