Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been a celebrity power couple since they began dating back in September 2023, however they have recently sparked rumours that their romance is over.
Over the weekend, Taylor attended the Super Bowl to watch Travis’ team, the Kansas City Chiefs, take on the Philadelphia Eagles. But the Chiefs lost the showpiece match 40-22.
At one point in the game, the crowd booed Taylor when she appeared on the big screens. President Donald Trump even took to social media to comment on her night, saying she had a worse experience than the Chiefs and had been booed out of the stadium, writes The Mirror.
Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ defeat, Taylor was notably absent from any Super Bowl after-parties and did not leave the stadium with Travis.
Instead, the Bad Blood singer left while wearing a pair of red shoes, which caught the attention of her fans. Taylor wore the red shoes with a white vest top and some denim shorts and some speculated that the red shoes were a subtle reference to The Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy clicks her red heels to return home, leading to the assumption that Taylor might be signalling the end of her relationship with Travis.
One TikTok user said: “So the fact that after the Super Bowl the last game of the season, we see Taylor leaving in her Ruby Red Slippers…the show is over. We’re waking up from the dream.
“It’s very much like The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy wakes up, realises it’s all a dream, clacks her heels and goes back home. I do feel like Taylor Swift ghosted after the Super Bowl and she’s going to lie low, we won’t see her for a couple of weeks. When she picks up and continues with the story, I’m very excited to see where it goes.”
Another social media user exclaimed: “Are they breaking up?” and a third penned: “That is a BOLD statement from her!!”
Taylor is well-known for leaving ‘Easter eggs’ for her fans, hidden messages in her songs or appearances that hint at deeper meanings. This tendency has led some to believe that every detail in her life carries significance, which only fuels the speculation about her relationship with Travis.
This also coincides with Taylor has been incorporating The Wizard of Oz imagery into her social media posts and music videos for months.
Following the Super Bowl defeat, Travis was seen looking more somber than ever as he made his way back to the Kansas City dressing room following a disappointing performance. Questions will now be asked about whether Kelce continues to play following the loss.
Speaking about the devastating loss, Kelce said: “Hats off to the Eagles, man. We couldn’t get it going offensively. We just couldn’t find that spark, couldn’t find that momentum.”
Despite trailing 24-0 at half-time, the tight end claimed he and the Chiefs were confident they could overcome the deficit, but the Eagles’ defence proved too tough for them.
He said: “100 per cent believed. Never lose doubt. This team is going to fight to the end forever. I think there was a lot of things going wrong. Everything was not really going our way today. You don’t lose like that without everything going bad. We haven’t played that bad all year.”
